Why MAT Dispatch
What is MAT Dispatch?
MAT Dispatch is a US truck dispatch service for owner-operators and small fleets. We find and negotiate freight, handle broker setup packets, rate confirmations, invoicing and route planning, so the truck stays loaded and the driver stays driving.
What will MAT Dispatch services do for my business?
We run the entire back office of your truck: sourcing and negotiating loads, broker packets, paperwork, invoicing, factoring submissions and trip planning. Most carriers see higher rate-per-mile and fewer empty miles within the first month because someone is negotiating full time on their behalf.
Isn't it cheaper to hire an in-house dispatcher?
Usually not for one to five trucks. An in-house dispatcher costs a salary, payroll taxes, load-board subscriptions, software and vacation coverage before a single load moves. With MAT Dispatch you pay a percentage of gross only on the loads we book, so the cost scales with what you actually earn.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
No. MAT Dispatch works month to month with no lock-in and no forced dispatch. The agreement can be cancelled with written notice, so we have to earn your business every week.
What makes MAT Dispatch different from other dispatch companies?
Three things: a dedicated dispatcher who knows your truck by name, full transparency on every rate confirmation, and no forced dispatch — you approve every load before it is booked.
How many trucks does one dispatcher handle?
Our dispatchers carry a deliberately small book so calls get answered. That means your dispatcher knows your home time, your lanes and your equipment instead of reading it off a screen.
Pricing & fees
How much does MAT Dispatch cost?
Dispatch pricing starts at 3% of the gross load value for most equipment, and 7% for hotshot. There is no sign-up fee and no monthly minimum — you only pay on the loads we book for you.
Are there any hidden or setup fees?
No. There is no setup fee, no cancellation fee and no charge for broker packets, paperwork or invoicing. The only cost is the agreed percentage of gross on loads we book.
When and how do I pay the dispatch fee?
The dispatch fee is invoiced weekly against the loads delivered that week. You can pay by ACH or card, and we can also coordinate the deduction directly with most factoring companies.
Do I pay if I don't run any loads that week?
No. If we don't book, you don't pay. There is no monthly retainer or minimum volume requirement.
Do you offer discounts for fleets or new authorities?
Yes. Fleets of three trucks or more get reduced percentage tiers, and brand-new MC authorities get exclusive starter rates for the first 90 days while the carrier profile builds up.
Getting started
How do I sign up with MAT Dispatch, and what do I need?
Call or send a request, then provide your MC authority, W-9, certificate of insurance and a signed dispatch agreement. Most carriers are set up and taking loads within 24 hours.
How long does onboarding take?
Typically 24 hours from receiving your documents. Broker setup packets go out the same day, and we begin quoting lanes as soon as the first brokers approve your profile.
Do I need my own MC authority?
Yes — we dispatch carriers running under their own authority. If you don't have one yet, our company formation team can guide you through getting MC authority, a DOT number, BOC-3 and UCR filed correctly.
Will you work with me if I'm brand new to trucking?
Absolutely. New authorities are a large part of who we dispatch. We help you build a credible carrier profile, avoid the brokers that burn new MCs, and price your first lanes so you're profitable rather than just busy.
What insurance do I need to work with MAT Dispatch?
Standard broker requirements: $1,000,000 auto liability and $100,000 cargo, with higher cargo limits for reefer and high-value freight. We keep your certificate of insurance on file and send it to brokers during setup.
Do I have to request insurance certificates for every load?
No. We hold your certificate of insurance on file and issue it directly to brokers during setup, so you never have to chase your agent between loads.
Which states and regions do you cover?
MAT Dispatch covers all 48 contiguous US states. We build lanes around your home base and preferred running area, whether that's regional Midwest, the Southeast triangle or coast-to-coast OTR.
Loads, lanes & rates
How do you find loads for my truck?
We work major load boards, direct broker relationships and repeat shipper lanes at the same time, then negotiate the best available rate for your equipment, location and available hours.
Can I choose which loads I take?
Yes. There is no forced dispatch at MAT Dispatch. Every load is sent to you with the rate, miles, pickup and delivery windows, and it is only booked once you approve it.
Can I set my own rate per mile and home time?
Yes. You set your minimum rate per mile, preferred lanes and home-time schedule during onboarding, and your dispatcher works inside those rules.
How do you help me avoid deadhead miles?
We pre-plan the next load before the current one delivers and target lanes with strong outbound freight, which typically keeps deadhead under 8% of total miles.
What happens if a load cancels or a broker falls through?
Your dispatcher re-covers the truck immediately, chases any applicable TONU (truck ordered not used) payment, and documents the broker so we can avoid repeat problems.
Do you dispatch loads on weekends and holidays?
Yes. Dispatch support runs seven days a week, with after-hours coverage for trucks that are loaded, en route or in a breakdown situation.
Can you dispatch team drivers or dedicated lanes?
Yes. We book high-mileage team freight and can build dedicated or semi-dedicated round-trip lanes when your schedule and equipment support them.
Equipment & services
What types of loads and equipment can MAT Dispatch manage?
Dry van, refrigerated (reefer), flatbed, step deck, Conestoga, hotshot, box truck, power only and straight truck. We match your equipment with the most suitable and profitable freight available.
Do you dispatch box trucks and hotshots?
Yes. Box trucks and hotshots are dispatched from a dedicated desk that works expedited and partial freight boards, because that market moves differently from full truckload.
Can I choose only some services instead of full dispatch?
Yes. Take full-service dispatch, or pick only what you need — rate negotiation, paperwork and invoicing, IFTA reporting, factoring support or DOT compliance. Pricing follows the services you select.
Do you handle IFTA, permits and DOT compliance?
Yes. We prepare quarterly IFTA filings, track permits and UCR renewals, and keep your driver and drug-consortium files audit-ready.
Can you help me get direct shipper freight?
Yes. Once your carrier profile and safety record support it, we run outreach to shippers on your best lanes so you can move off the brokered spot market over time.
Paperwork & payments
Who handles invoicing and paperwork?
We do. MAT Dispatch submits rate confirmations, BOLs and PODs, invoices the broker or your factoring company, and follows up on anything unpaid past terms.
Do you work with factoring companies?
Yes. We work with all major factoring companies and submit your paperwork directly to them. If you don't have factoring yet, we can introduce you to vetted partners.
How fast do I get paid?
With factoring, most carriers are paid within 24 hours of delivery paperwork being submitted. Without factoring, broker terms typically run 15 to 30 days, and we chase the ones that slip.
What happens if a broker doesn't pay?
We escalate with the broker, file against their bond when required, and flag the company so it is excluded from your future load list. We also credit-check brokers before booking.
Is my business and load information kept confidential?
Yes. Your documents, rates and lane data are used only to book and bill your freight, and they are never shared with other carriers.
Support & account
What are your dispatch hours and how do I reach my dispatcher?
Dispatch is staffed Monday to Friday 8:00 to 20:00 EST, with weekend and after-hours coverage for active loads. You reach your dispatcher directly by phone, text, WhatsApp or email.
Will I have one dedicated dispatcher?
Yes. You are assigned a named dispatcher who learns your truck, lanes and home time, with a backup on the same desk so calls are always answered.
What happens if I break down on the road?
Call your dispatcher first. We notify the broker and consignee, renegotiate the delivery window or lay-over pay, and help coordinate repair and reload once the truck is running.
How do I cancel MAT Dispatch services?
Send written notice and we stop booking. Any loads already committed are delivered and billed normally, and there is no cancellation penalty.
